Dr. Russo emphasised that from his research, hemp treated pain without the negative side effects associated with opioids and does not contribute to cardiorespiratory failure. He shared that hemp can be used instead of pain medication or it can be utilised in smaller doses of opioids to reach a similar effect.
Russo also referenced studies that prove hemp’s capacity to dramatically lower withdrawal symptoms during opioid detox and can assist in combatting drug-seeking behaviour. He stressed that one of the more well-known cannabinoids “THC” is not the only avenue, and that many of the other 113 cannabinoids found inside hemp, such as CBD, can help in fighting the opioid battle.
